How referrals work

If youโ€™re a parent/guardian, service coordinator, or preschool team member, weโ€™ll help you understand the next step and what information we need to begin services. Our goal is to make the referral process clear, supportive, and timely.

Get started

Referral pathways

Choose the option that best fits your situation. If youโ€™re not sure, contact us and weโ€™ll guide you.

Early Intervention (birthโ€“3)

If your child is in Early Intervention, your service coordinator can submit a referral to SLC Therapy of WNY. Weโ€™ll confirm availability, gather required paperwork, and coordinate the first visit.

Preschool (ages 3โ€“5)

If your child has an IEP or is being evaluated for CPSE, your preschool team/CPSE chair can refer for itinerant services. We coordinate with your program to support goals in the natural learning environment.

Insurance & private pay

For families seeking outpatient services, we can discuss insurance/private pay options and next steps. Visit Insurance & Private Pay for details.

Referral FAQs

Common questions from families, coordinators, and preschool teams.

What information do you need to begin?

Typically we need parent/guardian contact information, county/program details (EI or CPSE), and any available evaluations/IEP information. Weโ€™ll let you know exactly whatโ€™s required for your situation.

How soon can services start?

Start times depend on clinician availability and paperwork completion. Once we receive the referral, weโ€™ll follow up with next steps and scheduling as quickly as possible.

Do you provide services in homes, daycares, and preschools?

Yesโ€”services are provided in the childโ€™s natural environment when appropriate, including home and community settings, and in collaboration with preschool programs.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve families across Erie, Niagara, Wyoming & Genesee Counties, including West Seneca and surrounding communities.

Can I refer my child directly?

Yes. You can contact us to discuss your childโ€™s needs. For EI/CPSE services, weโ€™ll also coordinate with your service coordinator or preschool team as needed.

What services do you offer?

Speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and special education services for young children. See Services for an overview.
